Many speculations on how Aaron Carter died are circulating the internet, with many assuming it had something to do with his mental health and substance abuse; however, his manager came to set the record straight

According to Taylor Helgeson, the "I Want Candy" singer was in bad shape prior to his death, and in no condition was he supposed to be working.

"He looked thin. He was extremely tired," he told Page Six. "He just looked like he needed to be doing anything but working. He looked like he needed to be taking care of him."

Prior to his death, Carter was busy preparing his comeback. According to several reports, he was gearing up for the release of his seventh studio album, which was supposed to be entitled "Love 2."

The album succeeds his 2018 album "Love," which was supposed to be a tell-all. The late singer also noted that it was his best work to date.

Despite reports saying that the singer was actually on the mend before his untimely death, Page Six says that his demeanor did not match his appearance.

"He didn't seem okay," Helgeson continued. "He didn't seem okay physically ... [but] mentally, he was the most excited I've seen him in months. He was very intelligent and he was very conscious of what people wanted to see from him."

Aside from his supposed upcoming album, Carter was also writing a memoir. The "Aaron Carter: An Incomplete Story of an Incomplete Life" memoir was announced to be published, however, it was met with criticisms from both fans and friends, including Carter's ex-girlfriend Hilary Duff.

"It has since been put on hold while the singer's family and friends mourn: We are very pleased to hear that memoir has been postponed and would like to thank Andy Symonds [publisher of Ballast Books] for doing so," said Helgeson.

Cause of Death

Recent reports shared the information written on Carter's death certificate, and while theories and rumors on what really caused the singer's death are still circulating, the certificate noted that the singer's cause of death is "deferred."

Carter was found in the bathtub at his Lancaster, California home by a housekeeper. Although his body was found surrounded by pill bottles and compressed air cans, his family and management are adamantly shutting down notions that the singer took his own life.

"We were proposing [what] would have been ... three months in Utah just on detoxing and kind of formulating new physical habits within your body," Helgeson added.

As of this writing, there is no definitive cause of death, and more tests will be conducted to determine how the singer died.
