Aside from her soothing and calming voice, many people also remember H.E.R. because of her trademark sunglasses when she was just starting in the music industry a few years back. Today, the singer decided to ditch the eyewear and welcome a new chapter of her life.

Speaking to "Good Morning America" to discuss more about "Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration" on ABC, the singer finally revealed the main reason why she let go of her signature glasses.

The R&B musician, whose real name is Gabriella Wilson, said she's been "re-finding" her voice, adding, "Now I'm not wearing glasses. I can't be acting and wearing glasses, so I think it's time for people to really get to know the person behind H.E.R."

The "Slide" songstress then noted that she's currently in a new chapter in her life and she's finding a connection with the public, letting them see the "under layers a little bit."

Elsewhere in the interview, H.E.R., who is Black and Filipino, opened up about the significance of being a woman of color as she took the role of the iconic Disney Princess; Belle has been portrayed as a white person in the animated version.

"I never thought I could be a Disney princess... Every little girl wants to be a Disney princess, but I've never seen one that looks like me - so I get to be that to little girls now," she added. (via Uproxx)

H.E.R. Updates

In early reports, H.E.R. recently won a Children's and Family Emmy Award after being involved in the Netflix show "We the People" as a producer.

Other contenders in the category include "Sesame Street in Communities: Explaining Race I #ComingTogether," "Little Bird," and many more.

After her Emmy win, the singer is only one step closer to achieving the legendary EGOT status as she only needs a Tony Award.

At the age of 25, H.E.R. has achieved many prestigious awards including five Grammys and an Oscar award.

Last year, the musician snagged her first Academy Award for the best original song as she sang "Fight For You" from the movie" Judas and the Black Messiah."

It appears that the singer always had her eyes on the EGOT status as she told People Magazine last year that she sees the legendary title on herself in the future.
