Dolly Parton is considered a legend for her contribution in the music industry and she wanted to give fans a parting gift, an unreleased track, but the public won't be able to hear it until 2045 even if the singer wanted to unearth it so badly.

In a recent interview on "The Kelly Clarkson Show," the country icon revealed she recorded a yet-to-be-heard song in 2015 and she wanted to premiere it in 30 years.

Parton said it bothered her as she wouldn't be able to hear it again and she's aware that she may not be alive when it's finally released in the future. By 2045, the singer would be 99 years old.

The reason why she doesn't have any access to her track is that it's in a time capsule buried at Dollywood along with other items.

Parton later joked that she didn't know "whose damn idea" it was as the crowd burst into laughter.

"I figure it'll probably disintegrate, probably nobody [will] ever hear it. That's what bothers me, to think that it's going to be a song that nobody's ever going to hear if it rots in there before they open it," she added.

Other items in the time capsule include "things that had to do with the times," a cassette, a CD player, and her unreleased song.

Dolly Parton Shares More Details About the Song in Her Book

The country star published a book in 2020 titled "Songteller: My Life in Lyrics" where she shared more details about the unreleased song and the chestnut wood box time capsule.

Titled "My Place in History," Parton said she felt like she buried one of her children or putting it on ice.

At first, her marketing team wasn't fond of the idea as they told her that she'll be "long dead" by the time they open it, but she insisted that it's possible for her to live up to 99 years old because there are other people who lived older than that.

Parton concluded that it was weird that they would ask her to write a mystery song and she doesn't have an idea if she'll live up to 100 years old but no one knows. If she's still alive by the time they open the time capsule, the country legend is sure that she'll be present. (Heritage Time Capsules)
