2022 was a year for artists and performers to push the ceiling higher with their out-of-the-box and cinematic masterpieces jampacked in their respective music videos.

We've seen a killer barbie, a funk-ified group therapy session, and even a pop icon's eulogy - it is safe to say that we might have really seen it all so far!

Best Music Videos of 2022

  • "Sweetest Pie" - Megan Thee Stallion ft. Dua Lipa

The Dave Meyers-directed Garden of Even music video is an arachnophobe's worst and greatest nightmare. Megan and Dua's perfect combo made the music video a treat to watch! It's gooey, sugary, and fiesty - the perfect flavor for the two disruptive femme fatales!

  • "Super Freaky Girl" - Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj's comeback music video screams Nicki Minaj Pop era! The return of the iconic pink wig is definitely one to her 2010s era, and the Barbz are teary-eyed seeing Nicki take it to the 2020s! Of course, who did not drool over Nicki's own Ken - Alexander Ludwig?

  • "The Heart Pt 5" - Kendrick Lamar

Coming a week before the actual release of "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers," Kendrick Lamar's "The Heart Pt 5" hits home very hard. Albeit simple, the symbolism that transcended using deep fake technology is enough for anyone to show a salute. Blending O.J. Simpson, Kanye West, Jussie Smollett, Will Smith, Kobe Bryant, and Nipsey Hussle, the six Black American figures filled the poetic ballad with the much-needed presence they bring.

  • "This Hell" - Rina Sawayama

Rina Sawayama wasn't new in the music scene. However, with the release of "Hold The Girl," and the "This Hell" music video, Sawayama brought back the much-needed simplicity, nostalgia, and campiness that 2010s music videos brought before. The country-pop anthem screams pride, joy, and Sawayama's fiery attitude as she solidifies herself as the up-and-coming main pop girl that will dominate the scene soon.

  • "Anti-Hero" - Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift's "Anti-Hero" music video is as messy as her midnight thoughts. From seeing her eulogy to meeting two of her other personas, and even an Alice in Wonderland moment, Swift proved that she can do it all - write, sing, perform, act, produce, and direct.

  • "Bejeweled" - Taylor Swift

The second song from the "Midnights" album to have a music video, "Bejeweled" is basically what a Swiftie wanted to get when an artist drops a teaser. The music video is full of teasers, hints, and easter eggs to Taylor Swift's next re-recorded album, and she has to create a PDF to list down all the hints she dropped in the colorful and glimmering music video.

  • "Music For A Sushi Restaurant" - Harry Styles

Harry Styles' music video for "Music For A Sushi Restaurant" is weird, campy, and savory! Seeing Styles in a mermaid, almost an octopus-like creature, full of beard and sweat, is an overwhelming sight already, how much more if you see him performing with it?

  • "Out of Time" - The Weeknd

Perhaps one of the simplest and most straightforward music videos in the bunch, The Weeknd's "Out of Time" is beaming with fluff. Abel is joined by "Squid Game" actress HoYeon Jong in a karoke riff off of the song. However, it wasn't until later that it was revealed that Abel is really running out of time, as she puts on a mask again to regain his youth.

  • "About Damn Time" - Lizzo

The feel-good anthem's music video is one of the most-watched music videos this year. After running out of a support group session, Lizzo breaks out of her sweatpants and transformed into a sequined-jumpsuit dancing diva. Playing her flute flawlessly, Lizzo rocked herself out, dancing on her own, not knowing that the song would blow up on TikTok months later, responsible for the 2022 summer dance craze.
