Is Hugh Jackman okay?

After going through significant life experiences, the actor-singer who used his own voice in "The Greatest Showman" and "Les Misérables" is apparently "struggling."

According to Radar Online, the Australian actor sought counseling to help him deal with the pain following the death of his father and some childhood trauma he is still finding it difficult to accept.

He began talking to a therapist to confide in because of difficulties in his profession and because he made his mental health a major priority, according to sources who spoke to the site.

Hugh has also attributed a portion of his suffering to the heartache of seeing his family torn apart when he was at a very young age. While his parents separated when he was just eight years old, his mother abandoned him and his siblings.

His sisters followed their mother when she relocated to the UK.

The "Wolverine" actor never overcame his abandonment issues, an individual with ties to him said to the media site.

He has continued to carry that burden, and it has eventually worn him down to the point where he has realized he needs professional assistance.

In an interview with Australia's "60 Minutes," the 54-year-old actor spoke up about the anguish he felt when his mother departed.

"I can remember the morning she left, it's weird the things you pick up. I remember her being in a towel around her head and saying goodbye."

"The next day there was a telegram from England. Mum was there. And then that was it. Dad used to pray every night that mum would come back."

Hugh Jackman's mother, Grace, struggled with what he later learned was "undiagnosed post-natal depression," allowing them to come to terms with her choice to leave their family only after many years had passed.

Dad, who Hugh and his brothers refer to as their "best pal," then reared Hugh and his siblings.

The "X-Men" superstar hasn't been able to replace that emptiness since the same source informed Radar Online about how close they were when their mother departed.

The actor, who was devastated by Chris Jackman's passing on September 5, 2021, is determined to pay tribute to his adored father by enjoying life to the fullest.

Another insider stated that Hugh's father was by his side at every turn. "He was floundering and is still battling to remain on track - but the therapy's been a lifeline for him," the insider said.
