Iggy Pop is one of the biggest names in music and is widely considered as the "Godfather of Punk," for his impeccable contribution and impact on the punk and rock genres.

The rocker, now 76-years-old, sat recently with Classic Rock and became very candid on how he feels toward the Grammy Awards.

"The Grammys kept wanting to talk to me on the phone and I kept telling my manager: 'I don't want to talk to them. I hate those people. They want me to be an exhibit in their museum or something," he said in a recent statement.

Apparently, he is being informed at the time that he would be receiving a lifetime achievement award. Back then, Iggy Pop had been quite resistant of receiving a Grammy Award despite his huge impact.

"Then when I finally spoke to the lady from the Grammys a couple of months later she said: 'We're giving you the Lifetime Achievement. Without you, there's no Lil Nas X and there's no Billie Eilish,'" he continued.

Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X are two huge artists today who credits Iggy Pop as their huge influence, blending various genres together like he did in the past.

"According to her, 'You're a direct link to the artists that are at the top of our awards list this year.' So that's what one person had to say, and I'll take that for what it's worth," Iggy Pop furthered.

After the brief conversation over the phone, Iggy Pop then succumbed, finally accepting the award that was offered to him.

Iggy Pop, along with Chicago, Roberta Flack, Isaac Hayes, John Prine, Public Enemy, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe were awarded with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2020 Grammy Awards.

Before, he has only been nominated twice at the Grammys. First is for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal Or Instrumental for his song "Cold Metal (Single)," at the 31st Annual Grammy Awards. The second one is for Best Alternative Music Album for "Post Pop Depression," at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

A few days ago, Iggy Pop released "Every Loser," his 19th solo album. It featured contributions from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns N' Roses, and even the late Foo Fighters drummer, Taylor Hawkins.
