During her appearance at the Golden Globes Awards, Selena Gomez stepped out in a figure-hugging plum-colored dress that showed off her flawless skin, but that wasn't what netizens noticed at first glance.

The "Lose You to Love Me" singer was the subject of body-shaming comments, noting that she gained weight.

Gomez has been subjected to many body-shaming comments throughout her career, and while she usually keeps to herself, the singer decided that it was time to clap back at the haters.

"I'm a little bit big right now," she said during a live interview, "because I enjoyed myself during the holidays."

She was accompanied by her little sister, Gracie Elliot Teefey, during the live event and the award show earlier.

She then added, "but we don't care!" before they both busted into laughter.

According to reports, Gomez was dressed so beautifully in the Valentino Fall 2022 gown because she was nominated for her first very Golden Globe Award under the best performance by an actress in a television series, comedy, or musical category.

She plays Mabel Mora in "Only Murders in the Building," a comedy-drama television series that airs on Hulu. She stars in the show alongside Steve Martin and Martin Short.

As of this writing, "Only Murders in the Building" has two seasons, but according to reports, the show is confirmed to have a third season on its way soon.

This show is Gomez's first starring role in quite some time since she has slinked away from the film and television industry after her years-long stint at Disney Channel's "Wizards of Waverly Place."

She also recently released her documentary, "My Mind & Me," which mostly talks about her life and career as a singer and performer who grapples with mental illness and autoimmune disease.

The documentary brought in a wave of understanding and empathy towards the singer, and fans flocked to social media to express their disgust and disdain toward Gomez's haters.

"I hate that people make such a big fuss over Selena Gomez's weight. She's not even big in any way, shape, or form. Honestly, no matter what a woman looks like, people shouldn't body shame. Everyone is beautiful in their own way," a fan wrote.

"How awful that some people would body shame this gorgeous girl, who has complex health issues (which I fully understand) and who simply looks healthy and happy. Honestly, I despair sometimes," another added."

"Seeing people body shame Selena Gomez is just so sad like we are in 2023 please stop body shaming people. Every damn body is perfect, who tf are we to decide how good or bad someone look or how much weight should they have? This is sick so sick!"
