Many fans are excited for Shania Twain to release her new album within the next few weeks, but little did they know that the country legend suffered from a medical condition that almost made her unable to sing for years; how did she recover from it?

In a recent interview with InStyle for the publication's cover story, the "Man, I Feel Like A Woman" songstress revealed that she had a hard time projecting her voice for more than seven years.

The main reason why she struggled with her vocal cords was that she was diagnosed with Lyme disease that stemmed from a tick bite that she had in 2004. Medical professionals concluded that her condition affected her way of singing because it had damaged some specific nerves.

Following this, Twain spent many years relearning how to use her vocals again and underwent several vocal warm-ups and physical therapy. Until the dame finally came when she decided to undergo an open-throat surgery in 2018.

After the surgery, the country star said she was "petrified" to make any sound because she didnt know if there is a voice coming out, but was relieved when she built up her courage, saying, "It did scare me, but I just had to take the leap and make a sound. And I was so excited about what came out." (via Billboard)

To conclude her experience, the 57-year-old artist gave a few words of wisdom about her health condition, saying it was a reminder for her not to take time for granted.

"Don't take the opportunity for granted. It's possible I might lose it, that it may not last," she said, before adding that any unnatural support or prosthetic that a person could get is "synthetic" and their bodies could still give out.

Shania Twain Is Better Than Ever

Now that the musician is healthier than ever, Twain is set to release her new album "Queen of Me," available for purchase and streaming on February 3, 2023. The upcoming record is the follow-up to 2017's "Now."

In a previous social media post, the singer said she wanted to share to the world how she's very comfortable in her own skin and wanted to be uplifted and empowered in her comeback album.

She also noted how she wanted to share the message with other women in hopes that they would resonate with them.

In addition to a new record, Shania Twain would also go on tour this year as she's hoping to celebrate the milestone of her career with her supporters in the live audience.

"This one's gonna be a big party - no inhibitions, no conditions, let's get a little out of line!!" she wrote.

The tour will begin at the Spokane Arena in Washington on April 28, 2023, before visiting several cities across North America and the United Kingdom.
