King Charles will be officially coronated as the monarch of the United Kingdom this coming May, months after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away. In recent announcements by the Buckingham Palace, it appears that the three-day event will be full of fun and musical performances by renowned international artists.

According to Deadline, the said concert, which is a part of the so-called "Coronation Big Lunch," will be on May 7, 2023, at the East Lawn located at Windsor Castle.

The said music event will feature "global music icons and contemporary stars" that have yet to be announced.

Not everyone could watch the concert live as attendees will reportedly be drawn from volunteers affiliated with the King and Queen Consort's charity groups. A national ballot will be also be held to choose public members who wishes to see the artists perform in person.

Although the Palace has yet to release the official lineup for the special event, they noted that it would feature "world-class orchestra playing interpretations of musical favorites fronted by some of the world's biggest entertainers, alongside performers from the world of dance."

There will also be spoken word sequences by the performers on stage and on screen.

Produced by BBC Studios, the Coronation Concert will be broadcasted live on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds, and BBC Radio 2.

After the announcement made rounds online, many fans expressed their excitement on social media and shared the artists that they want to see perform.

According to one user who shared an unofficial lineup, they wanted musicians like Elton John, Gary Barlow, The Reynold Girls, Pete Abstract, Friends of the Park, George Albina, and many more to play their hit songs.

Although Sir Elton John has not been named yet as one of the official performers, the legendary singer has been affiliated with the Royal Family for decades.

In 2021, he received a royal honor from then-Prince Charles to recognize his hard work in the music industry and charity works that focused on AIDS; the musician was appointed to the "Order of the Companions of Honour."

The "Your Song" hitmaker has also previously performed at major royal celebrations like Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee in 2002, and the Diamond Jubilee Concert in 2012. (via Smooth Radio)
