Floyd Sneed, popularly known for being the drummer of the American rock band Three Dog Night, has died at the age of 80; take a look at his life and success through the decades.

According to Outsider, the musician's death has been confirmed over the band's official Facebook page. The group shared a joint statement, writing, "Three Dog Night is saddened to learn of the passing of Floyd Sneed. Floyd was an absolutely wonderful human being, a complete original and a sweetheart of a man."

Further looking back at his success and time in the group, the band noted that Sneed was a unique drummer who contributed to their distinct sound. Aside from being musically inclined and talented, he also broke barriers culturally.

"He will be greatly missed by all of us in the band and the many musicians, artists and others he inspired throughout his life," they concluded.

As of this writing, Floyd Sneed's cause of death has yet to be publicized by the band and his family.

According to Best Classic Bands, the Calgary, Canada-born musician first explored his love for music at a young age after receiving a drum kit from his sister. He later moved to Los Angeles and met with the members of Three Dog Night.

Per the outlet, the drummer joined the band in 1968 along with other musicians like Jimmy Greenspoon, Ron Morgan, and Joe Schermie. He later departed the group with Michael Allsup to form another band called SS Fools.

During the 1980s, he returned to Three Dog Night for a brief moment before working in the film Far Out Man as a drummer. Sneed didn't stop pursuing music as he continued to play for K.A.T.T. and founded another band called Same Dog New Tricks.

Amid his death, former bandmate Chuck Negron paid tribute to his old pal in a Facebook post, saying he was a "wonderful man, friend, and musical peer."

Along with collage pictures of the drummer, the musician went on to reveal in the caption that Sneed was a powerful drummer and a "special human being" outside of the music scene.

"I will always cherish the times he stayed with my wife Ami and I at our home and the hours we spent spinning tales of our youth when we were Kings," he concluded.
