Adam Levine made headlines a few months ago after a model exposed him for cheating on his wife, Behati Prinsloo. When the drama circulated online, another name was dragged into the issue as actor Adam Devine almost have the similar name to the singer, leading people to think it was him.

More recently, the "Pitch Perfect" star recalled the incident and revealed why he had to speak out at the time.

Speaking to the latest episode of the "Call Her Daddy" podcast with Alex Cooper, Devine clarified that he was not inserting himself into someone else's controversy because the Maroon 5 frontman was "already going through it."

However, hundreds of negative messages started piling up in his DMs after online users confused him with Levine, saying, "I was getting so many people that were just DM'ing me being like, 'How f****** dare you?'" (via Billboard)

He further noted that when he looked at the accounts who sent him messages, they weren't following him on social media and had not seen his previous films.

The negative remarks made him issue a statement online. At the time of the cheating scandal in September, the actor/comedian shared a post, clarifying that he did not cheat on his wife, Chloe Bridges.

"Just want to post this and say that my wife @chloebridges and I are doing great and going strong. I am not Adam Levine. He's a different guy and a worse singer," he wrote.

Adam Levine Cheating Incident

Devine's recent interview comes a few months after model Sumner Stroh claimed in a TikTok video that she had an affair with the musician, saying she was young and naïve when their relationship took off that's why she was "easily manipulated".

After realizing things, the model said she felt "exploited." The alleged affair lasted for a year and Sumner said the Maroon 5 frontman gave him the impression that his marriage with Behati Prinsloo was "over."

After the video made rounds online, Adam Levine issued a statement, clarifying that he did not have an affair, but he "crossed the line during a regrettable period in my life," adding, "In certain instances it became inappropriate; I have addressed that and taken proactive steps to remedy this with my family."
