Ludacris is set to perform at a concert this weekend but it appears that there are people who will be protesting at the event due to his chosen venue.

According to Billboard, the musician will be performing at SeaWorld this Sunday, February 26, and the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals are not too happy about it as they alleged he's using a marine park as a "money maker" even though he was informed that animals at the venue are not treated well.

"Ludacris is using the marine park as a money maker, despite being informed that dolphins and whales at SeaWorld are confined to cramped tanks with nothing to do but swim in circles and lash out at each other in frustration," executive vice president Tracy Reiman said. The organization added that they will be present at the event and would protest against the performance to let them know that "supporting marine prisons is ludicrous."

The outlet noted that the supporters of the group, as well as the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, will have a person dressed in a crying dolphin costume and will carry a placard that reads "What's My Fantasy? A Life Outside of SeaWorld!"

Ludacris' performance is a part of the theme park's Seven Seas Food Festival event that will take place every weekend and would feature performances from several artists and music acts.

The event already kicked off earlier this month with a performance from EnVogue. Other musicians who performed over the past weekends include REO Speedwagon, Collective Soul, Jerry Rivera, and The Commodores.

Check out the complete lineup below as reported by Orlando Weekly.

  • February 25 - Don McLean
  • February 26 - Ludacris
  • March 4 - Joey Fatone & Friends
  • March 26 - Eli Young Band

The outlet noted that EnVogue's performance was not protested by the group, but this was not the first time PETA took action against SeaWorld as they also made a stand during the Seven Seas Food Festival in 2018 when pop band Hanson performed.

In other updates, Ludacris will also perform at the Ohio State Fair this year. Other acts included in the lineup are Styx, Foghat, Tyler Hubbard, Matt Stell, and KIDZ BOP's "Never Stop Live Tour." (via 10 TV)
