The trailer for Foo Fighters' Sonic Highways has arrived. Today (Aug. 21), Dave Grohl and co. released a three-minute teaser for the HBO documentary series, featuring a taste of a brand new song "Something From Nothing" and basically everyone who's anyone in American music.

In a voiceover, Grohl explains that Sonic Highways began with the idea of writing and recording his band's eighth studio album in different studios around the country. Eventually, the concept grew bigger than that and turned into a documentation of American music and culture in the country's eight music capitals: Chicago, Austin, Los Angeles, Nashville, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington DC and New York.

"This isn't just the making of our most ambitious album; this is a love letter to the history of American music," Grohl said poignantly.

In their travels, Foo Fighters met a variety of America's biggest music stars to discuss their roots and hometowns. Pharrell Williams, Dolly Parton, Slash, Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard, Macklemore, Joan Jett, Rick Rubin, Carrie Underwood, Dan Auerbach and basically everyone else in American music make appearances in the trailer. Oh, and so does President Barack Obama, because why not.

In addition to the star-packed trailer and a taste for American history, Foo Fighters also sample a taste of a new song, "Something From Nothing." The first track from Sonic Highways features roaring guitars and a forceful vocals from Grohl... it's going to be a shredder for sure.
