Ed Sheeran is gearing up for the release of his upcoming fifth studio album "Subtract," and he just released the very first teaser of the very first single "Eyes Closed."

The teaser showed the British singer playing his piano before singing the song: "So I'm dancing with my eyes closed/ Cause everywhere I look I still see you."

"Eyes Closed" is expected to be dropped on Mar. 24, just a few weeks from now, and it's clear that Sheeran's next album will be an acoustic album.

"Time is moving so slow/ And I don't know what else that I can do/ So I keep dancing with my eyes closed."

According to Rolling Stone, "Subtract" has been in the works for a decade, and it reflects the genre of music that he was best known for during that time-acoustic.

Sheeran himself sees it as "the perfect acoustic album," and that it perfectly represents him as an artist now, several years later.

"As an artist, I didn't feel like I could credibly put a body of work into the world that didn't accurately represent where I am and how I need to express myself at this point in my life," he said. "This album is purely that. It's opening the trapdoor into my soul."

Reports note that "Subtract" was written while Sheeran was experiencing stages of grief and hope, which has changed his outlook on the way he curated this album.

"For the first time I'm not trying to craft an album people will like, I'm merely putting something out that's honest and true to where I am in my adult life."

Despite attempting to retire in 2019, Sheeran has managed to bounce back and stay relevant as an artist by both releasing new music and adapting to the ever-changing landscape of the Internet.

According to Variety, the "Shape of You" singer has found success on TikTok, as he gained over 13 million followers and 145 likes on the video-sharing platform.

His song "Bad Habits" became one of the most-used songs on the app, with over 1.1 million videos using the song as its sound.

"Subtract" will be released in multiple formats, including digital, cassette, LP, CD, and a deluxe version.

Sheeran will launch a "mini tour" in support of "Subtract" in the UK and other European cities.
