Elton John is one of the biggest-selling music artists in the world. His impact not only as a queer icon but also as a musician has inspired countless artists along the way.

Now on his final tour as a performer, Elton John is also hard-pressed to earn his first Emmy Award, the only missing award for him to achieve EGOT status.

For context, EGOT status is a title informally bestowed to artists who have received all prestigious entertainment awards - Emmy for Television, Grammy for Music, Oscars for Film, and Tony for Theatre.

So far, Elton John has three out of four of the awards - he is missing an Emmy!

Securing a Grammy wasn't a problem for one of the most popular singers and musicians worldwide. Despite being nominated as early as 1971 for Best New Artist, Elton earned his first Grammy in 1987 for "That's What Friends Are For." He won Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. He went on to earn five more in the years to come, including a Grammy Legend Award in 1999.

Elton isn't short of an Oscar, either. He won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1994 and 2019 for "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from "The Lion King" and "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again" from "Rocketman."

In 2000, Elton also won Best Original Score for his musical "Aida" with Tim Rice.

How Will Elton John Get His Emmy?

According to Variety, Elton John was at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in California for the screening of his "Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium."

The publication also posits that the show wasn't just a celebration of his final performance in the United States last November 2022 but also a subtle reminder that he is only missing an Emmy for his EGOT Status.

Ultimately, the pre-recorded special could be nominated for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), which got Adele her Emmy Award for "Adele: One Night Only."

Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and Dr. Dre also won theirs for their 2022 Super Bowl Halftime performance show in the live category of the same award title.
