Ticketmaster, again and again, has never failed to irk many musicians and singers because of their outlandish fees and excessive charges to fans.

Robert Smith, the lead singer of the English rock band,

The Cure, has slammed the ticketing giant in a letter to his fans.

The Cure Robert Smith Slams Ticketmaster

Earlier this month, The Cure was excited for their longtime fans in the United States with the announcement of their 30-date tour across the country.

Clipped in the announcement is Smith's letter to his fans saying that they have opted out of the "platinum" tickets or the "dynamic pricing" option for the tickets. Apart from this, they have also selected that said tickets could not be transferred from one buyer to another to limit resales and keep the actual prices of the tickets at face value.

Platinum tickets, dynamic pricing, and resale markup have been among of the few things that caused the longstanding headaches of concertgoers with Ticketmaster and Live Nation. These are the same problems that plagued Swifties for Taylor Swift's "The Eras" tour and Bruce Springsteen's "Arena" tour.

However, after the verified fan presale last Mar. 15, 2023, The Cure fans who have availed the tickets took their frustration to social media, expressing how the price of Ticketmaster's service, handling, facility, and processing fees have exceeded the actual prices of the tickets, making it more expensive than the actual costs of getting the seats.

In a flurry of very angry tweets, Smith slammed the ticketing giant for charging fans with outlandish fees.

"I AM AS SICKENED AS YOU ALL ARE BY TODAY'S TICKETMASTER'S FEES' DEBACLE. TO BE VERY CLEAR: THE ARTIST HAS NO WAY TO LIMIT THEM. I HAVE BEEN ASKING HOW THEY ARE JUSTIFIED. IF I GET ANYTHING COHERENT BY WAY OF AN ANSWER I WILL LET YOU ALL KNOW. X," he tweeted in frustration.

He then assured fans that he would do everything in his capacity to address the fees to the ticketing company. He also reminded fans not to buy from scalpers.
