Kendrick Lamar has accepted Dr. Dre's challenge.

The Compton rapper has joined a slew of celebrities including Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Drake in pouring buckets of ice cold water over their heads with the hopes of raising awareness and money in support of Lou Gehrig's disease.

Dr. Dre also nominated Eminem and Snoop Dogg.

Before getting drenched, K. Dot nominated Serena Williams, Ellen DeGeneres and Samuel L. Jackson.

The New York Times reports that the Ice Bucket Challenge has helped raise more than $13 million in donations over the past three weeks:

People have shared more than 1.2 million videos on Facebook between June 1 and Aug. 13 and mentioned the phenomenon more than 2.2 million times on Twitter since July 29, according to those sites. Donations to the ALS Association have spiked. As of Sunday, the association said it had received $13.3 million in donations since July 29, compared with $1.7 million during the same period last year. It said there were about 260,000 new donors. (With a spate of celebrities and business executives joining in over the past few days and pledging contributions, that number is expected to rise.)

The craze began after a 29-year-old man named Pete Frates dumped an ice bucket over his head nearly three weeks ago.

Frates, who suffers from ALS and can no longer speak, started a trend that has now reached the upper echelon of American society.
