The dissolution of Pete Wentz's marriage to Ashlee Simpson flipped his world upside down.

Pete Wentz Gutted By Ashlee Simpson Divorce

In a Monday interview with Nylon, the Fall Out Boy bassist reflected on his divorce from the "Pieces of Me" singer by comparing his life to the detonation of a bomb.

Wentz and Simpson's relationship began to deteriorate in 2010 when they were raising their now 14-year-old son Bronx, who was a toddler at the time.

The 43-year-old guitarist stated to the magazine that he was always traveling with his band and dealing with the burden of his burgeoning reputation. Wentz stated that he was stunted in certain respects and could barely navigate an airport without the assistance of his handlers. However, his separation from Simpson, who is now 38 years old, forced the rock star to mature and served as a reality check.

All of these life skills have atrophy, he explained.

From then, Wentz embarked on a voyage of self-reflection. During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, when he admittedly was in the worst shape of his life, he hit a rough patch.

But when the world began to reopen, Wentz once again embraced life.

In addition to picking up sports like tennis and golf, the artist claimed he began to seek out new activities and challenges. He also attempted ketamine therapy, baking and ceramics, reading 52 books in 52 weeks, and performing stand-up comedy at a local comedy club's open-mic night.

Wentz had disclosed that he had battled depression prior to Simpson filing for divorce.

"At 31, we'd had all these great years as a band, and then we took time off, and I basically became Mr. Mom. I had the beard, the flannel shirt. I didn't know what my identity was," he told Howard Stern in a 2015 interview. "That factored in. When your identity is what you do, it's hard when you stop doing it."

Wentz continued, "It was the first time where I was like, 'Well, no one's really taking my picture. I'm just basically hanging out with my kid all day. Who cares?' I think when you stop caring about your personal appearance, your personal hygiene, it makes you even more depressed, but it makes you do it more. It's like a vicious cycle."

Ashlee Simpson New Album 2023

While it's great to see Simpson branching out into fashion, her fans miss her singing. Ashlee Simpson, who has been largely absent from the music industry since the late 2000s, made a surprise cameo on Demi Lovato's "Holy Fvck" tour in Los Angeles. Simpson has been mainly absent from the music industry since the late 2000s.

Lovato had just finished playing her own pop song "La La Land" when Simpson's 2004 hit "La La" from her debut album "Autobiography" began to play. "Please give it up for Ashlee Simpson," ordered Lovato as she invited Simpson to join her on stage for the duet.

Simpson was in excellent spirits, matching Demi Lovato's black and silver ensemble, and singing every lyric of the flirty alt-pop song with conviction.
