Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth announced they were going their separate ways.

In a joint statement posted on the "Legally Blonde" actress' Instagram page, she announced they were calling it quits ahead of their 12th wedding anniversary.

"We have some personal news to share... It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce."

They added, "We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together."

It also appears that Reese and Jim's relationship reached a breaking point with the commencement of the epidemic.

"But these past few years have been the roughest," a source told OK magazine. "They've had to work hard to save their marriage."

Staying at home with each other is said to have strained their relationship.

According to the source, Reese and Jim struggled with being at home together and fought constantly.

However, after the lockdown was lifted, the pair began living different lifestyles, which apparently helped relieve some of the strain.

Unfortunately, the former A-listers discovered how far they had drifted apart.

They later went to marriage therapy and began making an effort to schedule date evenings and spend time together.

They got back to a nice place, but even therapy couldn't salvage their love for each other.

Jim Toth Mid-Life Crisis

Meanwhile, according to another source, Jim Toth is no longer the guy Reese Witherspoon married.

According to The Sun, the producer began dressing like "someone half his age" and has acquired "weird jewelry and tattoos."

Her spouse, not the "Sing" hitmaker, has changed dramatically.

"Call it a midlife crisis if you want, but that's when the tattoos, chunky, strange jewelry, and dressing like someone half his age took hold."
