Kanye West is being sued by two former teachers from his school, Donda Academy.

Cecilia Hailey and her daughter Chekarey Byers claim that they were fired from their jobs as retribution-because they reported code violations.

Donda Academy isn't a big school by any means, in fact, it only has a handful of students per grade, however, that also doesn't mean that the school prioritizes quality over quantity.

According to Rolling Stone, Donda Academy was still not accredited as of last year; the principal and executive director has no background in education or held any formal position as an educator.

On top of that, the publication's report also noted that the families of children enrolled in Donda Academy had to sign non-disclosure agreements.

Code Violations

According to one of the plaintiffs, Byers, there were only two "African American Teachers" at the rapper's school.

Additionally, Hailey also reportedly pointed out several health and safety violations, which she had brought up to Donda Academy administrators.

One of the violations includes basic life support training that teachers are supposed to be well-equipped and well-knowledgeable in.

Bullying

The pair also alleged that the school tolerated bullying, and that they did not have a proper disciplinary system to address the concern.

"Specifically, they complained that DONDA ACADEMY does not have a proper disciplinary system, as students were being subject to severe bullying," the lawsuit read.

"In one incident, a student assaulted an eighth-grade student by slapping her, then attempted to assault another teacher.

"The student had multiple accounts of bullying, both physically and verbally, that had gone without discipline. However, there are several students with bullying issues that remain unaddressed. Plaintiff Byers complained that the student who became violent should be expelled from DONDA ACADEMY."

Hailey defended her choice to sue West, emphasizing that it was not about "defaming" a celebrity, but rather that it is the "right thing to do."

She also highlighted that this case will not only bring light to the code violations but help administrators handle discipline among children.

Byers described the rapper's school as "pure chaos and mutiny" in comparison to how Donda Academy seems to appear on paper.

As of this writing, West is yet to make an official statement about the impending lawsuit.
