The 2014 MTV VMAs were full of high energy performances, with the likes of Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande giving it all on stage, but the show also featured a few smaller moments... most notable, pop-punk boy band 5 Seconds Of Summer took the stage and the award show down a few notches with a heart wrenching performance of its new single "Amnesia."
Though 5 Seconds Of Summer could have gone much more high energy (and high profile) for their VMAs debut, the band kept things subdued throughout "Amnesia," nailing all their notes and soaring to the highest of high spots.
Lit by some deep orange lights, 5SOS recalled their mentees One Direction and their "Story of My Life" performances by keeping it short, simple sweet and to the point.

5 Seconds of Summer was just one live act tonight during the performance heavy VMAs. Ariana Grande, Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith, Taylor Swift, Iggy Azalea & Rita Ora, Maroon 5 and Usher also took the stage.
5SOS was nominated for two awards this year: Best Lyric Video ("Don't Stop") and MTV Artist To Watch ("She Looks So Perfect").
