Steve Morse Deep Purple: Musician Takes Hiatus From Band After Decades

The recent tour announcement just comes a few weeks after Steve Morse announced heartbreaking news to fans, saying he will take a break from Deep Purple's concerts.

Taking to their official Facebook, the band confirmed that their guitarist will be "taking a temporary hiatus" from their live shows due to a "family matter."

Since the position for a guitarist became available, Simon McBride, popularly known for touring with Don Airey and Ian Gillan, will be playing with the group.

Steve Morse also wrote a letter to fans in the post, saying his wife Janine is currently battling cancer and whatever time they have left should be spent with each other.

He clarified that he won't be leaving the band and could possibly re-join once his wife recovered, but he doesn't see himself touring with his bandmates overseas anytime soon.

"I continue to be privileged to be a part of the Purple family tree, and also to get to feel the amazing support of so many loyal fans and the rest of the band," he added.
