Joey Bada$ is taking control of his career and his legacy, and his eyes are on the prize: the prestigious, most sought-after status in the entertainment industry: an EGOT.

In his interview with Billboard, the rapper explained what caused him to decide on wanting to achieve EGOT: his Oscar award for his role in "Two Distant Strangers."

He starred alongside Andrew Howard in the Netflix movie, which eventually won Best Live-Action Short Film at the 93rd Academy Awards.

"Before I even got the Oscar, it's funny, because that was gonna be one of my album titles at one point. It was gonna be The EGOT," Bada$ replied when asked if becoming an EGOT has crossed his mind.

"That's definitely something that I see in my future that I feel that I will manifest," he added.

Since his debut in 2015 with "B4.Da.$," the rapper has released two more albums since then: "All-Amerikkan Badass" in 2017 and his most recent album "2000" released in 2022.

A Grammy for The Rapper

It might come as a surprise to some that Bada$ began his career as a rapper, however, it was his acting career that landed him one of the most prestigious awards an actor can achieve.

That's probably because he is yet to release the perfect album that will catapult him into the music hall of fame.

When asked if he still wants a Grammy, Bada$ simply replied, "I don't. I'd appreciate one. I just look at it as something that's recognition."

"When I was younger, I felt it was an accolade that I needed to validate myself. I'm actually very firm on the idea we [as Black people] need [our own] Grammys," he continued.

Despite his answer, the rapper also noted that he already has a special spot in his house just in case the occasion rises and he bags the coveted award.

What Now?

Bada$$ is slowly but surely easing his way back into the rap game. According to Uproxx, the rapper just released a new music video for his song, "Fallin'."

This is Bada$ welcoming everyone to a new wave of his music and art, which is a bit different from his usual sound.

"I'm sharing a, I feel like, a new side of my artistry that my listeners haven't heard yet," Bada$ explained. "I've been teasing ['Fallin'] for a minute, but I'm singing a lot on this one."
