It has been three years since Kylie Minogue dipped her toes into the music scene with her hit album "Disco," but since then, she has taken the time to really discover what she wants for her next project.

This years-worth of self-discovery is now finally coming to a head with the release of her upcoming album "Tension," which is slated to drop on Sep. 22.

"I started this album with an open mind and a blank page," the Australian singer-songwriter explained. "Unlike my last two albums, there wasn't a 'theme', it was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of that moment and always trying to service the song.

"I wanted to celebrate each song's individuality and to dive into that freedom. I would say it's a blend of personal reflection, club abandon and melancholic high."

'Tension'

While the release of the album is months away, Minogue will be dropping her first single, "Padam Padam," very soon, so fans can still enjoy her music while they wait.

According to Variety, Minogue worked with her frequent collaborators, Duck Blackwell and Richard "Biff" Stannard, for the new album.

"I loved being back in the studio with my collaborators but was also able to benefit from remote recording, which we have all got used to," the singer shared, nodding to the pandemic lockdown getting in the way of her recording and releasing her most recent album the "traditional" way.

It has been several years since the pandemic hit, and although for the most part, people are now free to go about without masks and worrying about a vaccine, the entertainment industry is coming back with full force.

Artists are now releasing albums left and right, tours are set in motion, and there are a backlog of songs that are finally coming to light.

"The album is a mix of songs I have written and songs which really spoke to me. Making this album helped me navigate challenging times and celebrate the now," Mingoue added. "I hope it accompanies listeners on their own journeys and becomes part of their story."
