Ed Sheeran is one of the biggest stars in the world right now. Although his recent involvement in a controversial lawsuit seemed to have tarnished his reputation, he has remained one of the well-loved musicians in the industry.

One would think that a musical genius like Ed Sheeran has overcome a lot of odds in life only by himself. But in a new revelation, Sheeran used to stutter and he has credited an artist for helping him get through that.

Ed Sheeran Stuttering Hero

Speaking to The Howard Stern Show, Sheeran explained how having one of the biggest rap albums in the 90s helped him get through his unfortunate ordeal.

Receiving and listening to "The Marshall Mathers LP" was a game changer for a 9-year-old Ed Sheeran.

According to him, when he rapped on to Eminem's lines, he found himself stammering and stuttering less, although he was already receiving speech therapy at the time.

"[My uncle] just said to my dad, 'This guy is the next Bob Dylan. You gotta let him listen. And by learning that record - and rapping it back to back to back to back - it cured my stutter," Sheeran happily revealed.

For those who do not know, Sheeran's stutter came after getting laser therapy for a port-wine birthmark on his face.

Thanks to Eminem, he finally found his way into speaking normally without any impediment. Now, he is one of the biggest pop stars in the world.

Ed Sheeran, Eminem Friendship

Elsewhere in the interview, Sheeran expounded on his friendship with the rap superstar. For him, he thought it was different from Eminem because of how reclusive he was - he doesn't see or meet many people.

"I've known him now [for] six years and we've done three songs together, I've played with him twice onstage. He's another person I really relate to, as he lives in his hometown still and has his ecosystem around him," he added.

In the past, the two have collaborated many times. In the 2017 album "Revival," Sheeran appeared as a featured guest for the song "River" and "Those Kinda Nights" from "Music to Be Murdered By." They also worked on "Remember The Name" with 50 Cent.
