Demi Lovato had quite the memorable dress at the 2014 MTV VMAs on Sunday night (Aug. 24), showing off some major cleavage yet keeping it classy in a long sleeved, figure hugging red gown. But, the "Really Don't Care" singer wasn't always so daring and confident. Yesterday, she logged onto Instagram to relive her past VMAs looks and celebrate her body positivity.

In an Instagram post with her four most recent VMAs looks (from 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2014), Lovato reminisced on her past eating disorder and how happy she is to have now found a new, healthy lifestyle.

"This picture makes me feel so many mixed emotions.. I remember the day I wore the dress in the very first picture. I remember asking for spanx to flatten my stomach because I use to feel so heavy and 'fat.' Now looking at this picture, you can clearly see my hip bones. It makes me sad because I wasted so many years ashamed of my body when I could've been living the happy and healthy life I live today," Lovato wrote.

"It TRULY just goes to show you that your perceptions can lie to you. OR they can make you learn to enjoy life. Fortunately looking at the picture of myself in the red dress yesterday, I not only feel so grateful for the love and support I've had from fans, friends and family, but... I also feel.. beautiful. I'm so excited to live my life the way I deserve to and to the complete fullest. Thank you guys once again.. I'm so thankful for my Lovatics. I love you... And never forget that staying strong is worth it."

Lovato has been open about her past struggles with self-worth, addiction, self-harm and eating disorders. "I started compulsively overeating at a very young age. And then I almost stopped eating altogether at the age of 12, after being harassed by kids at school, for being 'fat,'" she said in an op-ed for Seventeen.

Glad to see she's doing well!
