Britney Spears became distant from her family following her conservatorship many years back.

While she has called out her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, numerous times on social media after she regained access to her accounts, she has not talked about their mother, Lynne Spears, much, but when she does, it was damaging to Lynne's image.

However, this all changed when the "Womanizer" singer suddenly announced to her Instagram followers that she and her mother have met up for the first time in three years yesterday.

Reconciliation

"My sweet mama showed up at my doorstep yesterday after 3 years," Spears wrote. "It's been such a long time ... with family, there's always things that need to be worked out ... but time heals all wounds!"

Her relationship with her mother deteriorated when her father, Jamie Spears, seized control over every aspect of her life.

"After being able to communicate what I've held in for an extremely long time, I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things right," the singer continued.

"I love you so much! PS, I'm so blessed we can have coffee together after 14 years! Let's go shopping afterwards!"

Conservatorship

Spears' fractured relationship with her mother stems from the conservatorship, which lasted from 2008 to November 2021.

According to reports, the reason why it took so long to reconcile with Lynne was because her mother was the one who suggested conservatorship in the first place.

"My dad may have started the conservatorship 13 years ago, but what people don't know is that my mom is the one who gave him the idea!" Spears wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post.

"I will never get those years back. [My mom] secretly ruined my life... So take your whole 'I have NO IDEA what's going on' attitude, and go f**k yourself.

"You know exactly what you did. My dad is not smart enough to ever think of a conservatorship."

In fact, Spears felt so betrayed and hurt by her family's actions that she wanted to file a lawsuit against her entire family.

"[It] still blows my mind every day I wake up how my family and the conservatorship were able to do what they did to me ... it was demoralizing and degrading."

Apparently, this is not the first time Lynne has reached out to Spears since the conservatorship ended, however, this is the first time the "Toxic" singer welcomed her.
