During Thursday's concert, Johnny Depp, 60, dedicated a special song to his late companion Jeff Beck.

The actor and musician mentioned the 78-year-old English guitarist who died in January before performing "Heroes" by David Bowie for the cheering audience.

"I should dedicate this song to one of all of our heroes, Mr. Jeff Beck," he could be heard saying in some videos that some fans captured from the emotional moment and shared on social media. The dedication occurred one day before his 60th birthday and served to remind admirers of the special relationship he shared with the icon. During the performance, he donned a white collared shirt with horizontal stripes underneath a black vest and black pants.

As he played guitar to the tune, he also donned a black hat over his long hair and a light red scarf around his head. As soon as videos of the tribute began to circulate on Twitter, users were compelled to respond.

"I am crying," one user wrote, while another revealed, "My heart wasn't ready for that." A third added, "I have goosebumps" and a fourth wrote, "Dedicating Heroes to Jeff...perfect."

Following Jeff's death as a result of bacterial meningitis, Johnny memorializes him with a touching gesture.

The fast friends reportedly met for the first time in 2016 and bonded over their passion of cars and music. In 2019, they began performing music together and eventually toured Europe and the United States. Last summer, the accomplished artists released an album entitled 18. It contained thirteen compositions and resulted in a handful of concerts to promote the album. Johnny was among those who were stunned by Jeff's death, which was reportedly sudden and occurred shortly after he fell ill.

Beck's notoriety did not stem from a catalog of hit songs (although there was, of course, Hi Ho Silver Lining) nor from a comfortable, decades-long residency in a mega-band (though there were rumored offers). Instead, he was a guitarist's guitarist who seemed to be at the center of a multitude of pivotal moments in contemporary music history.

These moments included the UK blues invasion of the 1960s, the pop-jazz movement of Stevie Wonder, the funk fusion and "world fusion" of the 1970s, and the rock, pop, and film music of the 2000s. He drew inspiration from jazz, reggae, Bulgarian folk music, western classical music, and Indian classical music, and influenced musicians in an even wider range of genres.
