As of today, Anita Baker officially removed Babyface from "The Songstress" tour after having an online public spat with him and his fans on social media.

Babyface, supposedly her opening/support act for her United States tour, was asked not to perform in a Prudential Center concert in May 2023, but due to time constraints, was asked to cancel their performance. Fans who were expecting the R&B singer to perform were dismayed, slamming Anita Baker, the main act for it.

Babyface Out From 'The Songstress' Tour

In a tweet shared by Anita Baker on the social media platform, she revealed that she has suffered a great ordeal online following the backlash surrounding Babyface.

"After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bullying/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest/Support Act. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, 'The Songstress Tour,' alone," she said in a tweet. Appropriate refunds will be made. Blessings.

In her newly posted tour poster, Babyface was seemingly omitted already, signifying his removal.

Babyface's representative relayed the R&B icon's message about the removal. According to him, he was "saddened" that Baker removed him from the tour.

"It's unfortunate and disheartening to see how things have played out via social media," he described to Variety. "While I was looking forward to the rest of the dates, I have nothing but love & respect for Anita and I wish her the best for the remainder of her tour."

Anita Baker, Babyface Feuding?

At one point, Anita Baker expressed her dismay over Babyface's "silence" as she was being harassed by his fans online.

In a tweet, she shared this ominous message about "defending a friend":

The issue stemmed from a May 10 performance at Prudential Center in New Jersey, when Babyface's set was cut off because of technical difficulties and time constraints. His performance was eventually revealed to be bumped off to give way to the main act, Anita Baker.

However, Babyface's fans slammed Anita Baker for alleged "diva" antics, even assuming that it was a "co-headlining" tour between the two of them. Anita reminded in a tweet that it was her tour.

Aside from the recent tweet, Anita Baker has not provided any further comment or statement about the issue.
