Classic R&B fans were surprised to see two of its most revered stars in a bad blood with each other after Anita Baker removed Babyface on her "The Songstress" Tour after receiving backlash on social media over a canceled opening set from the latter.

Originally, Anita Baker recruited Babyface as a support act for her own tour. However, some fans did not seem to have understood the placement, and thought it was a co-headlining tour.

Meanwhile, comedian-musician Lil Duval tried to break up the fight, by asking another music star to meddle.

Anita Baker Removed Babyface From 'The Songstress' Tour

Many were saddened and dismayed over the fact that Babyface was removed from "The Songstress" Tour.

In a tweet, Anita Baker had this to say: "After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bullying/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest/Support Act. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, 'The Songstress Tour,' alone."

Previously, Babyface was supposed to perform at the Prudential Center in New Jersey for the opening performance of Baker. However, due to technical difficulties, it was delayed and eventually canceled because going through with it would eventually impact Baker's performance. (via Variety)

Fans expressed their frustration on social media, alleging Baker for alleged diva behavior and for selfishly owning the "co-headlining tour." She then reiterated that it was her own tour and was not a joint venture.

Baker then expressed disappointment for Babyface for not taming down his fans. Since being fed up, she removed Babyface from the tour, prompting more frustration and disappointment from Babyface's fans.

Lil Duval Wanted Dionne Warwick To End Anita Baker, Babyface Drama

In a Tweet, musician-comedian Lil Duval had asked the gospel icon Dionne Warwick to get into the middle of the fight.

"Hey @dionnewarwick can u squash this baby face Anita baker beef for us please," he tweeted, which prompted the Grammy-winning singer to reply: "Baby, that ain't got nothing to do with me."

Even if Warwick would have agreed to mediate, it doesn't seem like Baker's answer to the problem was already definite and final, as she said that refunds would be rolling out for those who wanted to get their tickets back.

Meanwhile, Babyface was saddened by his removal too. He had this to say in a tweet:
