Shawn Mendes surprised fans when he appeared onstage alongside Ed Sheeran during his "Mathematics" tour in Toronto to sing a duet version of "Lego House."

On top of one performance, Mendes stuck around for another round by performing an acoustic rendition of his hit hit song "There's Nothing Holding Me Back."

According to reports, this marks the Canadian singer's first time returning onstage for a live performance since his abrupt hiatus from his tour in July 2022.

It is almost a year since Mendes shared the heartbreaking news with his fans, who have been eagerly anticipating the tour: "The reality is I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away,"

"After speaking more with my team and working with an incredible group of health professionals, it has become more clear that I need to take the time I've never taken personally, to ground myself and come back stronger."

Shawn Mendes Comes Back

It looks like Mendes is officially ready to come out of his shell and make music once again, as just a week earlier, he announced that he will be releasing a new single titled "What The Hell Are We Dying For?"

The upcoming single's cover, which features a picture of the hazy orange smog in New York City, was heavily criticized, however the singer insists that it is what inspired him in the first place.

"I feel like over the last year and a bit, I've just been really struggling in the studio to find my voice and to find myself musically and to even have the courage just to be in the room with writers or step into the booth and sing," Mendes said in an interview.

He also added that he reflected on his relationships, career, and the environment, which pushed him to write about it.

Shawn Mendes Camila Cabello Breakup

Perhaps the relationship in question was the very brief reunion he had with ex-girlfriend Camila Cabello.

"Camila was the one who ultimately decided to end things," a source revealed about the second breakup.

The pair reunited earlier this year at the Coachella music festival, where they were seen getting super cozy with each other.

While things were initially going great, it eventually fell apart once again when "they remembered why the split in the first place."
