Kelly Clarkson has been really public in sharing her experiences during her divorce and how she managed to overcome the whole ordeal. For some celebrities, many would have wanted not to speak about the said encounter, but Clarkson had really been patient in entertaining such questions.

In 2021, Clarkson and her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, divorced, resulting to a messy and highly-publicized custody battle that the "American Idol" champ had to endure. Now, she is opening herself up to the world about how she overcame those dark moments in her life.

Kelly Clarkson Goes To Therapy

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight Canada, she shared that she "regularly" goes to therapy even before while she was still married to Blackstock.

"I actually started when I was married, you know, obviously having difficulties and... not just about the relationships, just in general, I'd never really done regular therapy or anything like that," she said.

For the "Stronger" singer, therapy is different from writing, which she also described as "therapeutic." She noted that although she has a "really great group of friends," therapy has been a "really good" turning point for her.

The singer also noted that therapists has given her "so many tools" on how to navigate certain situations, adding that its "really helpful" for someone to speak to one.

As she publicly mentioned and discussed, "Chemistry," her new album, was an amalgamation of the positives and negatives of her whole relationship with Brandon Blackstock.

Like most songwriters and artists, the writing process for the album happened when she was going through something back then.

"That's why I always say like people's best work of art, whether you're a sculptor, painter, writer, whatever you are, it's usually after a hard time because that's when they're feeling everything so intensely, the artist, right?" she recalled.

Kelly Clarkson Kids

As for her kids, who were largely affected, Clarkson makes it a point to try and explain everything to her children in the matter it would be understood and grasped by their young minds.

"I just sit there and I'm like, 'I get it. I'm from a divorced family as well. I get it. That sucks. But we're going to work it out. And you are so loved by both of us,'" she told the Angie Martinez's IRL Podcast. "I think communicating with them and not treating them -- not treating them like an adult, because they're not -- but not treating them like a child. They're not small feelings. Those are huge feelings, and those are huge emotions."
