Kanye West's Yeezus was easily one of the darkest and most challenging albums to ever come from a major label, so who better to direct one of the album's music videos than the master of surreal nightmares, David Lynch? Apparently, this dream collaboration nearly happened, as Lynch revealed in an interview with The Daily Beast.

The Mulholland Drive director claimed that the Yeezus centerpiece "Blood on the Leaves" is one of his favorite songs, and that he nearly directed its music video.

"I was going to do the music video for 'Blood on the Leaves,' but it never happened," he said. "I didn't come up with any ideas that I thought he would like."

"Kanye came up to the house one day," Lynch continued. "Kanye's a good guy, and a great musician. I love the song, and that's what brought us together, but I couldn't come up with ideas that thrilled either one of us."

When discussing his admiration of "Blood on the Leaves," Lynch hilariously explains that Kanye is "just ridin' the wave and not takin' no for an answer," though he goes on to say that he feels as if he "let [Kanye] down a little bit" after failing to come up with any ideas for the video.

The "Blood on the Leaves" video wouldn't have been Lynch's first foray into music videos. He's also directed videos by Interpol and Nine Inch Nails, as well as a concert film for Duran Duran. Aside from his work in film, Lynch is also a musician himself. His most recent album The Big Dream was released in July 2013.
