One fan was heartbroken after he pulled off a big proposal for Olivia Rodrigo only for her to decline his request; what happened?

According to Page Six, an unknown teenage boy made a big move for the "Sour" musician at YouTube Space in Los Angeles before the premiere of her new music video for the song "Vampire."

In a viral TikTok video, the fan, who was dressed in formal clothes, approached the musician, asking her, "you wanna, like, go to prom with me?"

Rodrigo replied, "I've always wanted to go to prom, give me your number."

The fan was surprised with the singer's answer, but as soon as he approached her again with his phone for the contact information, the "good 4 u" songstress looked visibly awkward and decided to walk away as if he wasn't there.

As of this writing, the viral video amassed more than 216,000 likes and thousands of comments on the social media platform.

Olivia Rodrigo Fans Felt Bad for the Teen Who Asked Her to Prom

Fans bombarded the comment section to express their reactions, and most of them felt bad about the situation as one wrote, "saying give me your number then ignoring him is foul."

"The fact that she saw his phone when he wanted her number and she ignored him," another one wrote.

"Honestly he was pretty smooth in the first half. Sometimes men just need to know when to let off the pedal," another wrote.

Olivia Rodrigo Once Asked Fans to Go to Prom With Her

Although Olivia Rodrigo rejected the fan's proposal, there was a moment in her career when she asked fans to go to prom with her during the "Sour" era.

According to Uproxx, some supporters shared videos on social media in which they witnessed the pop star herself going to their houses with a bouquet of flowers, candies, merchandise, and a sign that reads "Prom would be brutal without you," referencing her song "Brutal."

At the time, the singer performed at her online show titled "SOUR prom" which premiered on a YouTube live stream in 2021. Her setlist was composed of songs from her debut album and the performances took place in a real high school gym.

The finale was then filmed on the football field of the University of Southern California.
