Britney Spears and NBA star Victor Wembanyama have been trending over the past few hours after an alleged slapping incident that took place in Las Vegas. Since the news broke out, fans have been waiting for both parties to address the issue, and the pop star finally shared her side of the story.

The "Gimme More" hitmaker took to her official Instagram account to share her reaction about what happened in Sin City, writing, "Traumatic experiences are not new to me and I have had my fair share of them. I was not prepared for what happened to me last night."

Spears went on to detail what happened that evening. The musician noted that she recognized an athlete in her hotel lobby when she was on her way to have dinner.

Later that evening, she went to a restaurant outside of the hotel and she saw him again, so she took the chance to come up to him and congratulate him on his success.

Since the area was "so loud," the singer tapped him on the shoulder in order to get his attention.

Unfortunately, the said athlete's security guard backhanded her in the face "without looking back, in front of a crowd" to the point that she was knocked down which caused her glasses to fall off her face.

Britney Spears 'Embarrassed' About Slapping Incident

Later in the post, the "I Wanna Go" songstress said the story was embarrassing to share with her fans but it has been reported by several outlets already.

She also thought that it was important to share the story and encourage "people in the public eye to set an example and treat all people with respect."

Spears went on to share awareness with her followers about physical violence as she believes that it's "happening too much in this world" and most of the time, it's often unseen by the public. She assured all victims that her stand is with them.

Victor Wembanyama Hasn't Apologized to Britney Spears Yet

It appears that Victor Wembanyama has yet to say sorry to the pop superstar as she noted in the post that none from his side, including the security guard and his organization, reached out to her for an apology.

Concluding her post, the musician said she don't think what happened to her was a "laughing matter" as seeing the said athlete laugh was "cruel and demoralizing" after the incident.

She then expressed her gratitude to those who sent love and support, especially to the Las Vegas Police Department and the detectives who were involved with the investigation.

The recent statement aligns with a news report published by an outlet which alleged that Spears was slapped by Damian Smith, the Director of Team Security of San Antonio Spurs.

The singer reportedly filed a police report to the Las Vegas PD alleging battery.
