Days before the actual release of the highly-anticipated movie "Barbie" internationally, the actors and the artists of the film and soundtrack are arriving at the "pink-carpet" premieres in their very best fashion-forward outfits!
However, Sam Smith is receiving heat for arriving in a rather lackluster outfit, a pretty unconventional take on a premiere for a film like "Barbie."
Sam Smith on 'Barbie' Premiere
A 360-degree turn from his flamboyant and eccentric red-carpet outfits, Sam Smith is on the receiving end of flak from fans of the "Barbie" movie for arriving in a rather underwhelming ensemble.
According to Page Six, Smith wore an oversized blue sweatshirt and wide-legged jeans from the Vetements spring-summer 2024 collection.
Although they looked very comfortable in the said outfit, fans were appalled at how they seemed to not get the memo on wearing something close to the theme of the film.
"That's possibly the worst outfit I've ever seen," a user said.
"This is the most normal clothes I've seen him in, since the start of this year," another commented.
"With all the outfits that Sam Smith wears, they chose this for the Barbie European premiere. I expected more," someone posted.
"SAM SMITH IS ONE OF THE MOST EXTRA PEOPLE ALIVE AND WHEN IT COMES TO THE MOTHERFUCKING BARBIE PREMIER THEY WEAR THIS?!?!?!?!" a user wrote.
Notably, Smith made headlines earlier this year for their very eccentric choice of outfits at the 2023 Grammy Awards and the 2023 BRIT Awards.
At the Grammys, they wore a hot red ensemble that shocked conservatives. Meanwhile, at the BRITs, he wore a bizarrely-looking inflated latex suit.
Smith also received flak on social media after he was announced to be the mystery artist on the "Barbie" soundtrack.

PinkPantheress and GAYLE arrived at the European premiere of "Barbie" and they delivered with their Barbie-inspired outfits.
PinkPantheress completes her black and pink asymmetrical maxi dress with her clutch bag, an important fashion piece in her iconic usual ensemble. Meanwhile, GAYLE donned a body-hugging laced ensemble complete with hot pink pumps!
As of this writing, only Lizzo, Dominic Fike, Charli XCX, Ice Spice, The Kid LAROI, Fifty Fifty, and Khalid were the only artists of the "Barbie" soundtrack who have not yet appeared on any of the premiere nights.
Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj, HAIM, Tame Impala, Karol G, Billie Eilish, and Ava Max have all appeared on the Los Angeles premiere.
