Ed Sheeran's wax figure in Germany does not impress his fans that much as it reportedly looks like someone else - particularly former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The uncanny similarities between Sheeran and the former UK prime minister took over the internet again after the Panoptikum Museum in Hamburg unveiled the Lisa Büscher-made statue Thursday. The Berlin-based artist debuted the wax figure after working on it alongside her dedicated team since autumn.

Büscher's first wax project garnered praise from Sheeran's fans due to the statue's exact impression of the "Shape of You" singer. However, some internet users also said it does not look like Sheeran at all.

Ed Sheeran's Wax Figure in Hamburg Gains Mixed Reactions

Express UK published a report citing fans' different reactions to Sheeran's wax statue, with most of them saying that it "freaks" them out as it looks nothing like the singer.

Other internet users also described the art as a pixelated 3D picture of the "Perfect" hitmaker, while another pointed out its uncanny similarity to Johnson. Users of an online forum also shared the same sentiment and said it reminds them of someone else.

"Why's Boris Johnson doing an Ed cosplay?" one said, with another forum user writing, "It's giving Boris Johnson meets Kirsten Dunst."

Sheeran has been aware of the public mistaking him for the former Mayor of London. In 2015, he shared a since-deleted tweet in which he wrote, "Someone just mistook me for Boris Johnson and I wish I was joking."

Despite some disapproval, Büscher received praise for applying even the small details onto the wax figure. The statue, in fact, includes all of Sheeran's signature look -his simple black shirt, white sleeves, iconic shaggy red hair, and even his tattoos.

Sheeran's wax figure also has its own Little Martin acoustic guitar, which makes it more impressive, and it will be placed in the museum's British triangle where figures of Adele, Queen Elizabeth II, and other notable people stand.

Creating Ed Sheeran's Wax Figure Was "Challenging"

After finishing the wax figure, Büscher told the media (via The Mirror) that creating the statue was challenging for her since she had to use the material for the first time.

According to the artist, she went through "intricate and time-consuming feature of the project" when she worked on its tattoos since "every very tattoo has a special meaning for him."
