In a recent interview with Alex Cooper for her podcast show "Call Her Daddy," Zayn Malik revealed several details about his co-parenting setup with his ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid.

It was clear that the "Pillow Talk" singer adores his two-year-old daughter, Khai, whom he shares with Hadid.

"Since I've had my daughter, the main thing in my mind is trying to be a good example to her," Malik said. "That's why I'm even doing this interview, you know? I used to get a lot of anxiety around having a conversation like this. And I want her to be able to look at me and be like, 'My dad's doing this.'"

After that interview, the singer probably had no idea-like the rest of the world-that his ex-girlfriend would be caught and arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia a few days later.

Gigi Hadid Arrested, Charged

According to TMZ, the model was caught with the illegal substance during a security check after flying in from the Cayman Islands.

Customs & Border Control went through Hadid and her entourage's belongings and found a small amount of marijuana.

Newer reports on the incident reveal that Hadid's use of marijuana is for medication, and it was obtained legally in New York.

"Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license," E News reported. "It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island."

Zayn Malik Gets Full Custody?

When Malik and Hadid welcomed their daughter two years ago, the couple was very strict with how she was going to be brought up.

The pair decided that Khai would not be growing up under constant scrutiny of the media, and they shielded her from it.

"I didn't want her to have to be like exposed to that because she didn't choose it, you know, like it was a choice that I made," Malik explained the lack of pictures of Khai on either of the pair's social media.

"So I was like, we need to get out of here so that she can have. Some chance of like a normal childhood, you know, where there's not cameras flashing in affairs constantly."

As of this writing, there is no news on whether Hadid's case is going to affect her custody rights over Khai, and Malik has not commented on the matter.
