Nicki Minaj, Missy Elliot Snubbed In 'Ladies First' Docuseries

As soon as the trailer dropped, many hip-hop fans pointed out the glaring absence of Nicki Minaj and Missy Elliot in the series.

"We really got to sit down and talk, why do they keep excluding Nicki Minaj from these topics like she isn't the most successful female rapper of all time. They're literally tryna wipe her from the history books due to personal vendettas," a user said.

Meanwhile, one of the producers, Shawn Allen, responded to the fan, shedding light on the alleged "snub."

"Nicki didn't let us license her music & videos," he claimed. Apparently, the plan was to include Minaj. However, he continued to claim that even Missy Elliot declined to give them licenses to use her music.

Pop Crave got a hold of the conversation. Allen quote tweeted it and offered more context.

"I think bc Nicki is working on her own doc... I don't understand why Missy didn't agree," he said.
