Fans have been missing Marty Friedman from the original Megadeth lineup, but he finally made his on-stage comeback this year outside of the country where he's currently residing; check out their performance below.

According to Key-J, the guitarist already reunited with his bandmates at the Nippon Budokan arena in Tokyo, Japan, earlier this year, but fans noted online that it was out of convenience because he had been living in the country for over 20 years now.

That's why in the recent show, fans were more surprised as he played the guitar at the group's show at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany.

Before going on stage, frontman Dave Mustaine teased concertgoers online as he told his followers to "head over to the faster stage" as they got a "special surprise" which fans didn't want to miss. In the post, he also added a photo of himself along with Friedman during their show earlier this year.

He also had his own set at the music event. According to Setlist.fm, some of the songs he played were "Tornado of Souls," "Symphony of Destruction," "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due," and "Trust."

Megadeth Fans Want More Performance From Marty Friedman

After the performance concluded, fans immediately expressed their excitement about the future of the group on Reddit as they wanted Marty Friedman to appear on Megadeth's show more often.

"I was just f****** hoping they would do this AGAIN! As they did it in Japan recently, really badass that they join forces yet again!" one wrote.

Awesome. I hope this starts to happen more regularly. I would also love it if they collaborated on a new song or two and to hear more stuff from the Marty era played live," another one wrote.

Why Did Marty Friedman Leave Megadeth?

According to Rock and Roll True Stories, Marty Friedman was an official member of Megadeth from 1990 to 1999. However, after their 1999 record "Risk" was released, he left the band.

In 2000, Mustaine issued a statement which said that the guitarist decided to part ways with his bandmates to "pursue other musical interest."

He later clarified that there were no fights that happened between him and his pals at the time, and one of the actual reasons for his departure was he liked Japanese music and he prefers to play it.

Later in his life, the musician moved to Japan and had been residing there for over two decades.
