Since Dave Mustaine has been a part of Megadeth for decades, he had already witnessed many bandmates who became a part of the band and later went out to pursue other musical ventures, but out of all of them, there was only one whom he thinks is significant after their time in the group.

According to KeyJ, the musician spoke with Bloodstock TV to discuss the heavy metal group's reunion with their former guitarist Marty Friedman earlier this year at their concert in Tokyo's Nippon Budokan Arena.

During the conversation, the frontman reflected on what he felt that evening, saying the reunion made him feel a lot of emotions.

"It did have a lot of those emotions. It did feel like it was the good old days," he recalled.

Dave Mustaine Thinks Marty Friedman Was the Only Significant Member Post-Megadeth Career

Later on, Mustaine gets candid and noted that Friedman made "quite a name for himself on his own" after leaving Megadeth.

For the lead guitarist, although he didn't want to offend "the other guys," he thinks that his good pal "seems to be the only one that's ever amounted to anything."

Further explaining his sentiments, the musician based his idea of success on sales and believes that Friedman was the only person out of the group that's successful regarding numbers.

But it appears that it wasn't only about how much he was earning, but also about his unique way of thinking creative-wise.

"And to be able to go over and visit him in his world - I think that it was neat to see him out of his environment," he said.

Why Did Marty Friedman Leave Megadeth?

According to Rock and Roll True Stories, Marty Friedman left the band in 2000. At the time, he announced that his departure was due to his desire to pursue other musical interests.

It appears he left on a good note as he recalled in a previous interview that there was "no fighting about anything" when he decided to part ways with Megadeth.

David Mustaine also shared in an interview with KILO 94.3 that both of them had creative differences at the time as Friedman wanted to venture out into other means of music.

Since then, the former member had been staying in Japan where he amassed a massive career by collaborating with other musicians and appearing on television programs.
