The Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and Keith Richards received a heartfelt tribute as their hometown is now also home to their bronze figures.

Jagger and Richards met in 1961 at Dartford, Kent's railway station, and their meeting led to the creation of The Rolling Stones the following year. They soon became members of one of the most successful bands in history, and their efforts and contributions have been acknowledged in the newly unveiled statues.

Keith Richards, Mick Jaggers' "The Glimmer Twins" Statues

On Wednesday, the people of Dartford, Kent, witnessed the unveiling of Richards and Jaggers' statues - dubbed The Glimmer Twins - in the musician's hometown.

The Rolling Stones fan Amy Goodman created the bronze statues -commissioned by the Dartford Borough Council- which picture Richards and Jagger performing together.

Jagger's statue wears skintight trousers while holding a microphone in one hand. Meanwhile, Richards holds onto his "Micawber" Telecaster guitar, which Eric Clapton gifted him on his birthday.

"I could have gone for any time between their late teenage years to their late 70s," Goodman explained, saying he depicted the musicians as they were in the 1980s. "I was a nervous wreck. There was a lot of pressure because they are such icons."

The statues were named after the pseudonym the duo came up with in the mid-1970s while creating and producing The Rolling Stones albums.

Richards' daughter Angela and granddaughter Ava attended the unveiling at the town center.

The Rolling Stones Hit New Milestone

While Richards and Jagger have been successfully immortalized through the statues, The Rolling Stones also cemented their career as a band even more this year.

Insider shared Pollstar's data about the rockers becoming a $2 billion-worth group since it debuted decades ago. It revealed that the band raked in more than $2.1 billion from touring alone, allowing them to take the top spot just ahead of U2.

Overall, The Rolling Stones have two places on the highest-grossing tours of all time list, with No Filter Tour collecting $547 million despite only having 58 shows.

The Rolling Stones' keyboardist, Chuck Leavell, told insider that the band members did not know how long they would play and tour. Still, he noted that their career would not be over anytime soon despite their ages.

"We're obviously toward the end of the journey, but it's not over yet," he said. "We don't take touring lightly - it isn't just a job to us. Each one of us is acutely aware of just how blessed we are to be able to do this as long as we have."
