Justin Townes Earle may not be a single mother himself, but he named his new album after those hardworking women, and you can listen to it now. Today (Sept. 1), Earle's fifth studio album Single Mothers is available to stream in full, ahead of the record's Sept. 9 release date.

Alongside Ryan Adams' self-titled album and Interpol's El Pintor, Earle's new release is streaming now over on NPR's First Listen.

Building off his 2012 album Nothing's Gonna Change The Way You Feel About Me Now, Earle continues to blend the worlds of country music, alternative rock and R&B with his heartfelt, twangy Single Mothers.

From the sliding, soft "Picture In A Drawer" to the punchy, grooving R&B throwback "Time Shows Fools," Earle continues to expand what it means to be a singer-songwriter on the country circuit, and he does it with a lot of care.
