Over the weekend, Taylor Swift's "Cruel Summer" surpassed 900 million streams on Spotify, beating Olivia Rodrigo's newly released single "Bad Idea Right?"

The five-year-old song from Swift's "Lover" album is now the most streamed female solo song on the global Spotify chart, and the singer's fans are thrilled and proud of the new milestone.

However, it seems like Swift's fans, or Swifties, are still unsatisfied and are now after another top spot, the global most streamed artist position on Spotify.

Rodrigo and The Weeknd have reigned over the Spotify charts for years now, especially after the release of their chart-topping albums and singles.

The Weeknd is the King of Spotify

According to reports, The Weeknd casually has the most streamed song on Spotify: "Blinding Lights." The song was released in 2019 and boasts 3.70 billion streams and counting on the music streaming platform.

As of this writing, The Weeknd is also the most streamed artist on Spotify, with over 112 million monthly listeners, whereas Swift is the second with over 98 million monthly listeners.

Swifties are determined to get the "Anti-Hero" singer on top, to cement her legacy even more.

Taylor Swift Gunning for Most Streamed Artist on Spotify

According to reports, the "Lavender Haze" singer is releasing her "1989 (Taylor's Version)" in October, and it seems like the singer might just claim the top spot for herself soon.

The upcoming album will boast more 19 tracks, including 14 from the initial release, and an additional five vault tracks.

After the massive success and numbers "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" pulled in, it is only a matter of time before Swift overtakes The Weeknd, and fans are already showing just how powerful they can be when it comes to streaming.

Swfties showed that they can pull it off. "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" became the highest single-day numbers for Spotify after its release on July 7.

The singer's songs held on to 23 of the top 50 slots on Spotify's Top 50 in the United States. Meanwhile, in the global charts, 17 songs were present at the global top 50 charts, reports say.

Swift's fans are now, even more so, determined to get the singer atop every single chart imaginable to man, and the singer might just help their cause once the highly anticipated "1989" re-recording is dropped.
