Olivia Rodrigo finally answered the long lurking question about whether her song, "Vampire," is about Taylor Swift.

Rodrigo is gearing up ahead the release of her upcoming sophomore album. But at the same time, she also has to deal with the buzz associating her hit track with Swift.

Is Olivia Rodrigo's "Vampire" About Taylor Swift?

In her interview with The Guardian, Rodrigo expressed her surprise after learning that fans connected her "Vampire" with the "champagne problems" hitmaker. For what it's worth, the public has been suggesting that the lyric "Bloodsucker, fame fucker, bleedin' me dry like a goddamn vampire" refers to Swift.

"How do I answer this?" she said. "I mean, I never want to say who any of my songs are about. I've never done that before in my career and probably won't. I think it's better to not pigeonhole a song to be about this one thing."

The public started the buzz as they assumed that she had to give half the royalties and songwriting of her track, "Déjà Vu," to Swift because of its uncanny similarities to "Cruel Summer."

The rumor got more intense after the "Lover" singer invited Sabrina Carpenter, the rumored other girl in Rodrigo's "Driver's License," to her The Eras Tour.

Rodrigo often spoke about the track online and how writing it helped her get over regret, heartache and anger. She also told fans that, she hopes "it helps u deal with any bloodsuckers in your life."

Olivia Rodrigo's "Vampire" Lyric Sparked Buzz

Before Swift's name entered the picture, the "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" alum also explained the "fame f**ker" line of the track in her interview with Audacy Check In.

"Some people said, 'It kind of isolates you from people, you can't really say things like that in song, it's not relatable' - yada, yada, yada, which I totally get and saw where they were coming from," she said.

Rodrigo reportedly decided to retain the lyrics since it is about someone using and manipulating a person for all their worth. She added that fame is a "universal theme" that is "more accessible now" compared with the past.
