Jimmy Buffett's death heavily affected most of his closest friends and fans, but the most emotional person out of everyone was his wife Jane Slagsvol, whom he spent time with for 46 years before his death this month.

More recently, the musician's widow penned an emotional letter for his fans and to those who have helped their family grapple through the final moments of the singer.

As posted on Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers' official Facebook page, Slagsvol began the letter with a quote from her late husband that he said months before his passing.

"As Jimmy said a few months ago, 'Growing old is not for sissies,'" she wrote. The wife then added that it was hard the past few years for her and Buffett, but she assured that they were not sisses.

"Everywhere we went, at arenas, events, and even in hospitals, we were surrounded by love. There is a whole world of people I want to thank for the incredible kindness you showed us," she added. (via Taste of Country)

Later in the letter, Slagsvol took the opportunity to express her gratitude to those who have helped her and her husband during his final years.

She gave a special shoutout to medical professionals such as nurses, hospice workers, doctors, and caregivers as their compassion was "overwhelming" in a positive way.

Aside from the doctors, the wife also thanked those who worked with her and the singer as well as their friends as they were surrounded by the best people.

"You made out lives better in thousands of ways," she added.

"Jimmy knew he was loved. Right until the end," she added.

Jimmy Buffett Death

According to CBS News, the musician passed away after years of battling skin cancer. He specifically suffered from Merkel cell cancer, a rare medical condition.

Jimmy Buffett was 76 years old.

Despite his medical condition, it didn't hinder him from performing as he was still able to sing in front of his fans in Rhode Island a few months ago.
