David Foster and Katharine McPhee are currently going through something after it was confirmed that the nanny of their child passed away. More recently, the couple opened up about the tragedy and how it affected them.

In a joint interview with Entertainment Tonight, the legendary singer said the situation has been tough not only for him but also for his wife.

"It's been tough for [Katharine]... Yeah, it's been tough. She's managing," the musician said. (via UsWeekly)

According to E! News, the nanny named Yadira Calito passed away after being hit at a Toyota dealership in California in early August.

The Los Angeles Police Department shared a statement to UsWeekly Magazine, confirming that an 84-year-old woman drove a car in the dealership company's reception area.

Unfortunately, Calito, who was 55 years old, was pinned under the car and was dragged for 20 feet. She was later hospitalized in critical condition.

The nanny did not survive her injuries as she was pronounced dead.

The dealership company has since released a statement regarding the incident as Megan Maybee, the company's director of communications said, "We extend our deepest condolences to Yadira's family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time."

In late August, a source told the outlet that McPhee was devastated over the death of Calito as she was very close with all of them and had become a part of their family.

The insider further noted that McPhee was doing their best to support the nanny's family.

Since the couple's son, Rennie, was still very young, the source said the singer was not leaving the side of him because he still couldn't absorb what happened.

Before it was confirmed that the nanny died in an accident, David Foster and Katharine McPhee were in Jakarta, Indonesia, for a concert.

However, due to a "horrible tragedy" in their family, McPhee had to sit out while Foster finished the rest of their shows in Asia.

The singer further apologized to her supporters and told them that she wishes to return and perform again in the future.
