David Foster and his 38-year-old wife, Katharine McPhee, are apparently trying for a second child.

According to the National Enquirer, the couple has distinct plans for growing their family.

The former "American Idol" judge and the 73-year-old Grammy-winning producer had their first child in 2021.

Katharine's first child with David, Rennie, is already the latter's sixth child. He has five grown daughters from his previous marriage.

It has been revealed that the "For Just A Minute" Canadian songwriter and performer wishes to have another child with his wife as soon as possible.

An unnamed friend told the publication, "David's done the math and knows he won't be around when his kids with Katharine are much beyond adulthood."

The two initially met in 2006, while Katharin was still a contestant on "American Idol," and David was a mentor on the show's fifth season.

Nonetheless, it appears like they are intended to be together, but they must first become friends before any passion can grow between them.

David Foster even played the piano during Katharine's first wedding to Nick Cokas. They were married between 2008 and 2016.

However, there were speculations the next year that Katharine and David were in a developing relationship, which was proven true after they made their red carpet debut as a pair the following year.

Katharine McPhee and David Foster married in London in 2019, and by 2020, they revealed she was expecting their first child.

According to the source, David is hoping to give his youngest kid a little brother or sister to play with soon since he wants to spend time with them and possibly provide some knowledge while he can.

"He doesn't want their next child to be born years later," they added.

Katharine McPhee, on the other hand, is said to have allegedly no desire to expand her brood.

Nonetheless, it's better to take this story with a grain of salt.

Katharine recently spoke about parenting and adding to their brood in an interview with "The Jennifer Hudson Show."

The "Scorpion" actress stated she and her husband are "not in any crazy rush" to have another baby but would certainly like to have one.
