Tom DeLonge opened up about his ongoing activities with the Blink-182 classic lineup and shared why he never expected to play music and tour again.

DeLonge officially reunited with Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus as they geared up to release their new album following the 2011 "Neighborhoods." Ahead of the material's arrival, he opened up about the unexpected things that happened in his career as a musician.

Tom DeLonge Says Playing Music and Touring Again Were Unexpected

In their interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe, the trio spoke about their new album as well as the things that previously drove them apart and what led them back to become a band again.

Lowe touched on DeLonge's exit from Blink-182 in 2015, and the vocalist revealed that he found himself in "weird oceans" that he did not know "how to navigate" after his departure.

"I remember telling my wife now, like, well I don't think I'm ever going to play music again," he continued. "I don't think I'm ever going to tour again, until Mark told me he was sick, and then that was the only thing I wanted to do."

Hoppus underwent chemotherapy and other treatment after he was diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, the same type of cancer his mother also suffered from and beat. Unfortunately, it also damaged the bassist/vocalist's vocal cords.

Fortunately, he recovered from it, and the band is ready to share new music soon.
