Jimmy Buffett has given fans one last gift from far beyond the grave with "Equal Strain on All Parts," an album he had been working on for months before his sudden death.

"I wasn't necessarily thinking in terms of this being the last thing he had to say, but I think, in retrospect, he probably was," said Mac McAlly, the late singer's producer and old friend.

"But he never let on. He never surrendered to what was actually happening."

Buffett's death came as a surprise to both his fans and his frequent collaborators, who had no clue he was grappling with skin cancer.

"There were people in our organization that didn't know he was ill," the producer slash songwriter added.

"He didn't want anybody feeling sorry for him. He just wanted to be this big ray of positivity that he always was. When I went and said goodbye to him the night before he died, he was still smiling just wider than his face."

According to reports, the "Margaritaville" singer rounded up quite the star-studded collaborators for the album, including Paul McCartney, Angelique Kidjo, Will Kimbroug, Lennie Gallant, and Emmylou Harris.

"Equal Strain on All Parts" is his 31st studio album, and is his last.

According to reports, it boasts a single "Bubbles Up" as well as 13 other songs in the tracklist.

Some of the songs in the album deemed as "standouts," as per USA Today are "My Gummie Just Kicked In," "Nobody Works on Friday," "University of Bourbon Street," and the title track "Equal Strain on All Parts."

"When he heard the whole album in sequence, he was so proud of this one in a way that I've never seen him be," McAlly added. "And that may be because he knew it was the last one and he got it right."
